Thomas Inch  (December 27,  1881 to December 12, 1963) was a famous strongman performer in England. He was named
Britain's Strongest Youth and later took the title of Britain's Strongest Man . Amazingly his own piece of training equipment which
was coined  “The Un-liftable Dumbbell”  was what he was known for and remains famous to this day.  He claimed that in over 40
years no one was ever able to take his money by successfully  lifting  the commonly referred to Inch Bell. This was a big
achievement with dangled a  BIG reward for someone’s monumental efforts.

Ripley's 'Believe It or Not' featured Inch's challenge that 10,000 strongmen have failed to lift this dumbbell, but Inch lifted it a 1000
    times!

So what makes this legendary dumbbell so much of a challenge that many of the strongest men of that era could not hoist it up. I
mean some of them were able to lift astoundingly heavier weight overhead. I will present you with the exact dimensions of the Inch
Bell and you will quickly realize where the extreme difficulty lies.

    Total Weight: 172 pounds 9 ounces   - That’s Heavy !
    Handle Length - 4” Inches  - That’s Short !
    Handle Diameter - 2.38” Inches  - That’s Real Thick !

I know you are saying well 172 pounds ain’t that bad, people have lifted a lot more than that one-handed and I will agree to that  as a
fact. BUT NOT WITH A HANDLE THAT THICK !

The handle is what  separates the would-be lifters from those few that have managed to pull it from the ground and only a handful
have been able to press it overhead as Thomas Inch could.

The average length of an adult male hand is 18.9 cm or 7.4 in now wrap that around a that almost 2.5” handle and you got a heck of
a challenge on your hands -lol

Seriously the fact is that the larger the hand the better chance you have to lift it if your strong enough. Now all of us with average size
hands and above average strength have to work with what God give us and train to gain the strength needed to give this bell some
    air time.

To say the least lifting the Inch Dumbbell is a  HUGE  Feat of Strength in the world of functional strength.

Now how do you train to accomplish this lift and secure all the bragging rights you want.

READ THIS BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING!

The replica bell also has a handle 4" wide, but whereas the original handle is 7.5" circumference, the replica is 7.75" circumference.
The relative diameters would be: original 2.38" and replica 2.47". For comparison, a standard soda can is 8.25" in circumference.

    Loadable Inch Dumbbell

2x8” inch diameter globes attached with 2.47” standard replica handle size used in contests or shows but original Inch Bell 2.28”
diameter handle x 4 inches long is also available. The Overall is length of the entire dumbbell is 20” inches. Heavy gauge 1/8”steel
shell weighs 15 lbs empty. If loaded with #7.5 lead shot it will load to 140 lbs. Use smaller #8 or #9 lead shot and weight will go
    higher and higher.

Another never offered feature is the cold rolled steel and threaded extension bars that insert in the fill hole in each globe, which
allows you to add standard weight plates as you go up in strength or want to do negatives without having to load or unload more
shot for a single workout. Additionally there will be an option to have the globes filled with 50 pounds of melted lead which will allow
you to start at a heavier weight thus requiring less shot initially.

Bonus: You can have your Loadable Inch Bell personalized with your engraved name.
